Living Your Best Life(style)!
One of the persistent desires for many people is to find their passion, and I really believe the answer to how you find it lies in your understanding of why you are here . . . your purpose. It’s often that thing you love to do or do really well, so much so that you would do it everyday if you could.
You know you want to, but there are soooo many things that get in the way . . . societal and family expectations and pressure, real-life responsibilities, fear of failure (or success), lack of finances, lack of this, that and the other. Well, just stop it, ‘cause that train of thought is just one big pity party! None of the many things that could go on this list should stop you from pursuing your passion.
A few years ago, I met a young lady who was an office administrator by day and a super-talented “starving actress” by night. She’d taken classes at the local improv for years, but couldn’t quit her day job. We came up with a plan for her to volunteer as an acting coach to students of the neighborhood school’s drama club, and from there she eventually started a successful after-school drama program for children - and she’s continued to “live her passion” for theater and acting.
My son has been an artist since he was 4 years old (according to his proud Mom) when he had his anatomically-correct Superman on display at the Chicago Children’s Museum. Talk about attention to detail!! 🤦🏽♀️ I digress. He’s loved art all his life and now, he works as a school administrator, but he spends most evenings and weekends working on his art and has recently turned his passion into a business where people now commission his work. A friend who retired last year has taken up art, violin and piano in the last six months, and he’s really getting good at all of it! Who knew?
My long-winded point is this, just start doing what you love and what brings you joy. If you’ve been trying to find your passion, I promise that it’s somewhere in there, and whether you ever make a dime or a dollar doing it, well . . . that’s not really the point of living your best life, now is it?
If you aren’t waking up living your best life every day, or actively working toward getting there, time’s a-wastin”, and it’s time to get going!
Ciao!
